Why everyone should remain single

Well I was thinking to myself the other day why the hell do people get married. After I gave this topic profound thought I decided that staying single was the best thing a person could do. Why? Well here are some reasons why I feel that a person should remain single.

Advantages of being Single:
1. Single means you have the time to grow and be the person you want to be.
2. Single gives you space to grow. It is harder to grow when you are too close to someone.
3. Single means learning to live by yourself.
4. Single means freedom.
5. Single means learning not to need a man/woman to make your life meaningful.
6. Single is realizing that being married is not necessarily better.
7. Single means that there could be something wonderful around the corner and you can take advantage of it.
8. Single means you are free to love again.
9. Single means you have more time to care for other people.

Disadvantages of MARRIAGE:
1. Marriage is not a word, but a sentence. (Life sentence)
2. Marriage is very much like a violin, after the sweet music is over, the strings are attached.
3. Marriage is love, love is blind. Therefore marriage is an institution for the blind.
4. Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor's and the woman gets he Masters.
5. Marriage is a thing which puts a ring on a woman's finger and two under the man's eyes.
6. Marriage is not just having a wife but also inherited worries forever.
7. Marriage requires a man to purchase 4 types of "Ring" engagement ring, wedding ring, suffe-ring and enduring.
8. Marriage life is full of excitement and frustration. In the first year, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. And in the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.
9. It is true that love is blind but marriage is an eye-opener.
10. Getting married is very much like going to the restaurant with friends. You ordered what you want, and when you see what the other fellow has, you wished you had ordered that.
11. A happy marriage is a matter of giving and taking, the husband gives and the wife takes.
12. Love is one long sweet dream, and marriage is the alarm clock.
13. When a newly married man looks happy, we know why. But when a ten year married man looks happy, we wonder why.

And now I hope people who read this realize that getting married might be the worst mistkae of your lives. I just hope my girl friend is not reading this else I will never be able to marry :-)

Tips for GMAT takers

I recently gave GMAT and got a score of 740. I thought I would also put in few tips that might help others to preapre for GMAT:

1. There is no proper preparation period (as in 1 month or 2 months etc...) it varies from person to person. I had studied for only 15 days but still managed a decent score as I am an engineer (so I am comfortable with maths) and I had studied verbal a lot for my GRE so I required less time for preparation in GMAT. So don't ask anyone as to when you should be taking the GMAT. It is YOU who has to decide what would be the appropritae time.

2. Decide and plan out your studies well. My weakest section was verbal. So I took the 1000 questions CR and SC document which I had and solved all 1000 questions. I was on a leave at that time and so managed to solve all of them.

3. Become competent in all the GMAT sections and revise all formuals and solve as many questions as you can before giving the GMAT pratice tests. I am suggesting this as most of the time people in their need to check their competence levels start giving tests very early on and simply waste the pratice tests. I would suggest get your concepts cleared before begning to give any tests, so that you dont waste the scarce resource of tests that you may be having and don't get bogged down by the low scores.

4. Kaplan, OG, Powerprep are a must before giving the actual GMAT. After revising all sections this is how is paced my tests schedule:

a. I gave Princeton first. Princeton tests are comparitively simpler. So starting with them gives you a lot of confidence.

b. I then moved onto Kaplan tests. Kaplan tests are toughest amongst the lot. So remember that it is important that you dont get bogged down if you score a little less here. A score of 650 and above is pretty good on these tests.

c. OG I solved the full OG book after this. The OG has all questions that have been previously asked in GMAT so this is the best pratice to help you realise how good or bad your preparation is. If you still are not fairng well in solving OG then i recommend that you go in for postponing your date.

d. Finally give the 2 powerprep tests on third last and second last day before GMAT. My experience has been that your score on these tests is very similar to your actual GMAT score as the toughness level is same.

e. Give all the tests strictly ahdering to the time limit and give them in a controlled enviornment so that no one disturbs you. Also always write the essays along with the tests. This is very very important and often neglected part of GMAT preparation. More than practicing essays it will help you get used to the 4 hour schedule. Remember in GMAT you have to write the essay sections before you move onto the main sections. So if you are not used to writing essays then you may have trouble giving the main sections. This is because you will not be used to writing essays before begining the main sections.

f. A day before exam just CHILL don't touch your books. Especially dont go near your computer or TV as it starins your eyes (remember you have have been sitting in front of your comp for the past month or so giving tests and on the next day again you will have to sit for 4 hours. Your eyes need rest!) So just relax. Sleep, eat (don't drink ), go out with friends and basically have fun.

5. During exam relax. You have doen all the work now and there is no point in taking tension. So be cool and dont worry.

6. After exam PARTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY well I hope my experience helps you guys in your preparation. All the best to everyone for their GMAT. I am planning to apply for fall 2007. So will look forward to collabarating with many of you for the admission queries

Weird Statistics!!!!

A big part of doing MBA is going through a lot of information and on one of my recent reading spree I came across a few statistics that I found really weird and intresting. So here they are:

1. Almost half the world's population earns a below - average income!
Well I always used to feel that half of the population of this world would be earning above-average income. Reading this made me wonder am I one of those people who earn a below avergae income? Well it was then it hit me! I don't earn anymore. I am a student. A full time student with no income :-0

Well can this fact be realted to the fact that more than half the world has a below average IQ? Assumig that people doing MBA have an above average IQ . Then I would be having an above avergae IQ but I am not earning at all which means I am below the average as far as income is concerned. Which in turn indicates that someone out there has a below average IQ but is earning above average income. This make me wonder should we have a high IQ or a low IQ? Are we on such an IQ shortage? Well I guess statistics never lie!

2. If current trend continues, by 2017 every child born will be illietrate!
Well sad but true. Then I figured that maybe this is the reason that more than half of the people in this world have an income below the average income. Could this be it? Establishing the link between IQ, income and education I am more than determined to do my bit to eradicate illetracy from the children who are our future because I guess statistics never lie!

3. Atleast 97.3% people in this world are at the risk of getting cancer!
I was particularly worried about this statistics as I did not know wheteher I lie in the 97.3% category. It was scary enough that 97.3% of people are at risk of getting cancer, but it was even scarier to discover that most people fall into that 97.3% demographic. Man now everwhere everything seems scary as thought it is out there to get me! I am worried like hell because statistics never lie!

4. By 2050, at current mortality rates, two out of every three people will be dead!
Well this statistic as all the ones mentioned above really worries me! I am too young to die by 2050! I am spending so much on my education already. In addition I am planning to specialise in Financial Engineering after I finish this MBA. I am wondering will I be able to pay off all my debt by 2050? Will I live a debt - burdened life? If I am not able to repay will my wife be able to repay it? Or looking at things as they are with a short life and a huge debt will anyone marry me? As I am writing this I am also worried what if my girlfriend reads this blog and finds out I might die by 2050! Will she leave me then?

Ironically I am sitting with two other people in the library as I type this wondering which 1 of us is going to be the lucky one to survive past 2050. Then I figured what if I kill both of them then I will surely survive beyond 2050. I guess I have no chocie because statistics never lie!
